What Triggers the Higher SDLT Rates?
Higher SDLT rates come into play when you are buying an additional residential property worth £40,000 or more. You’ll be subject to these rates if all of the following conditions are met:- The property is priced at £40,000 or more.
- It will not be your only residential property worth £40,000 or more (this includes properties anywhere in the world).
- You haven’t sold or given away your previous main home by the time you complete the purchase.
- No one else has a lease on the property with more than 21 years remaining.
